Concert to benefit fire victime

MOUNTAIN LAKES-"Burnt Offerings," an eclectic musical program for the benefit of Mountain Lakes fire victim Noel Cobb, will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 4 p.m. at the Wilson School, 271 Boulevard in Mountain Lakes. Cobb, a longtime supporter of the arts, lost his home in a fire on January 17. The benefit, organized by Cameo Productions, Ltd., will feature Steve DePass, "America's Singing Poet," as master of ceremonies. Performers will include Cameo Productions' artistic director, soprano Jacqueline Kroschell of Sparta; Morristown duo tenor John Hammel and soprano Carmen Artis; and Montclair coloratura soprano Karen Lundry. Denville's Carol Middleton as musical director. Other performers from Cameo's New York roster will perform popular and classical music. Noel Cobb, who grew up in Mountain Lakes, earned money playing banjo in Dixieland bands throughout New Jersey while in high school and college. The father of four never lost his love of music, even when he gave up the stage for a job in industrial engineering. Admission to the benefit concert is a minimum donation of $20.
