County libraries set June programs

    The Sussex County Libraries will continue their ongoing programs in the month of June. Then, at the end of the month, they’ll kick off One World Many Stories, this year’s Summer Reading Club. Children and Family Programs Wii Family Game Night Bring the whole family to Main Library the first Wednesday of the month for fun and games on ther Wii game system. This month the library will start with Wii Resort Sports and move on from there. Call 973-948-3660, ext. 3420 to register for June 1 game night. Main Library: Wednesday, June 1 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. LEGO Club Children in kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to enjoy a theme and book talk followed by an hour of LEGO creating. Main Library will be showing a different film based on a children or teen book on the third Saturday of each month. Main Library: Saturday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m. Teen Programs Onigiri Animanga Club The anime/manga club continues to grow. The club meets the first and third Fridays each month and is open to teens in grades 7-12, no registration required. On June 3 the club will be planning a trip to the AnimeNext anime convention being held in Somerset from June 10-12. On June 17 the club will reminisce about the convention and watch an anime film (title TBD). Free snacks provided. Main Library: Fridays, June 3 and 17, from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Just Us Teens Book Club Like to get together with others your age? Then come to Main Library the third Wednesday of each month for the Just Us Teens Book Club. In June the club will discuss graphic novels. Open to teens in grades 7-12, no registration necessary. Main Library: Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Adult Programs The Sussex BARDS Sussex BARDS offers a supportive and encouraging environment for both aspiring and experienced writers. Those who are seeking to become published professionals or simply share their creativity with others are welcome. Share all styles and genres from fiction to journalism, no registration required. Main Library: Mondays, June 6 and 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. Adult Book Club The Adult Book Club meets at the Main Library on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. The club is open to all lovers of literature, no registration required. The “Immortal Life Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot is the selection for June. Main Library: Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. “Not Just Chick Lit” Book Club This new book club is designed for enthusiastic readers, both men and women, who are interested in reading and discussing good literary fiction. The club will meet at the Dorothy Henry Branch Library in Vernon on June 16 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “The Choice” by Nicholas Sparks. Light refreshments will be served. No registration required. Dorothy Henry: Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. Yoga with Jane Local yoga instructor Jane Bielen Schear will be at the Main Library on Wednesdays from 11 - noon to teach yoga to adults. No previous experience necessary. Wear loose clothing. No registration is required but make sure you exchange contact information with Schear the first time you attend to be informed of any scheduling changes. Sussex County Library Needlers The Needlers are open to anyone with a love of handiwork - knitters, crocheters, embroiderers and counted cross stitchers all welcome. Come to the Main Library every Wednesday afternoon from 1 - 3 p.m. to share patterns, learn new stitches and make new friends. No registration required. Knit and Spin with Lisa Hirkaler Join local artist Lisa Hirkaler and an ever-changing group of beginner-to-advanced knitters, crocheters and spinners to learn and share techniques. The group meets the first and third Thursdays of every month from 5 - 7 p.m. in the community room at the Sussex-Wantage library. All levels of adult artists are welcome. Evening Purls of Wisdom The Evening Purls of Wisdom knitting group invites experienced and new knitters to bring their projects and supplies and join them at the Dorothy Henry Library.
