Everyone can enter this gingerbread house contest

    Jefferson Township — It's time to bake your gingerbread house and put it on display. The Jefferson Arts Committee has scheduled its 6th annual Gingerbread House Contest as part of its upcoming Christmas in the Village event scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3. The contest will be held in the Milton United Methodist Church, 316 Dover-Milton Road in Milton/Oak Ridge. Age divisions for participation are 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 11, 12 to 14 years of age, and 15 through adult. The rules are simple: Create your own homemade gingerbread house or construct one from a purchased kit. Choose any type of structure with landscaping not to exceed 12 inches wide by 12 inches high by 12 inches long. All materials (except for a cardboard/wood/plastic base) must be edible. Judging will be based on the use of different edible materials, creativity and originality. Prize ribbons will be awarded in all divisions for first, second and third places. Pre-registration, along with a $5 entry fee, is required. Checks should be made payable to the Jefferson Arts Committee. Entry forms are available at the Jefferson Township Public Library, Municipal Building Lobby and Camp Jefferson’s Recreation Department brochure racks. All gingerbread houses must be dropped off at the Milton United Methodist Church on Friday evening, Dec. 2 between 6 and 7 p.m. for the judges’ viewing.
