Fall lineup announced at the Newton Theatre

    Grand opening Sept. 9, tickets available July 22 NEWTON — Critically acclaimed musician/producer Todd Rundgren will perform his greatest hits at the grand opening of the Newton Theatre on Sept. 9. A VIP reception will follow. On Sept. 10 the theater will host 80s chart toppers the Motels, best known for their hits “Suddenly Last Summer” and “Only the Lonely.” Martha Davis and the Motels combine pop with a soulful edge. Electric Jazz guitar god Scott Henderson will fly into Newton with his burning combo of bassist Jeff Berlin and drummer Mike Clarke on September 15. On September 23 the Newton Theatre presents SOLAS, loudly proclaimed as the most popular and exciting Celtic band ever to emerge from the United States. September 24 brings the first installment of the Big Apple Comedy Club series, showcasing four of New York City’s hottest comedians. The Thanksgiving show follows on Nov. 26 with four totally new NYC stars. Oct. 14 opens with Canada’s premier neo-tradsters The Duhks, who romp from world-beat to blues, urban-pop to old-timey, with wild-eyed invention, haunting traditionalism, and spine-rattling groove. Dar Williams writes songs from a unique, insightful perspective. One of the premier singer/songwriters in America, she will grace the Newton Theatre stage on Dec. 1.
