SPARTAnCornerstone Playhouse will present the thriller “Sorry, Wrong Number,” along with a ghost story, “The Hitch-Hiker”, at 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 22, and again at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. Both are both radio plays by Lucille Fletcher. “Sorry
” was considered one of radio’s ten “bests,” starring Agnes Moorehead, and went on to become a film starring Barbara Stanwyck. Kathy Ziemann of Frankford, a longtime member of the Country Theatre in Branchville and Cornerstone Playhouse, plays an invalid who is trapped at home and living a nightmare of a crossed telephone lines where she hears of a murder about to happen. Her frantic efforts to enlist help, her growing terror, and several plot twists should keep the audience on the edges of their seats. “The Hitch-Hiker” is the tale of Ronald Adams, who sets out to drive from Brooklyn to California and encounters a strange hitch-hiker at various points along the way. Being a ghost story, the play hovers between reality and unreality. Tim Moran will play the lead. For both plays, Paul Tracy is direcing, assisted by Linda Brady. Carol Emerson is producing. Other cast members include Maria Devita-Krug, Charles Krug, Heather Stromberg, Bill Hemberger, and Steve Shaw. Tickets are $12; $11 for seniors and students.
