Get ready for Halloween in West Milford

West Milford — Calling all children and friends of the Great Pumpkin. You are invited to participate in the West Milford Community Services & Recreation’s annual Halloween Parade and Jack-O-Lantern Contest to be held at Bubbling Springs Lake on Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Entertainment will be provided immediately following the parade while judging is completed. The categories for judging have changed this year. Trophies will be presented to the first, second and third place winners in the following age categories: 2 and under, 3 and 4 years, 5 and 6 years, 7 and 8 years and 9 through 11 years. There will be one first place trophy for the group prize. For those wishing to enter the Jack-O-Lantern contest, register your entry at Bubbling Springs on the day of the parade. One trophy will be given in each of the following categories: best carved, best decorated and biggest. The Jack-O-Lantern contest is for children only. Only West Milford residents, up to age 11, may participate. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at the Community Services and Recreation Office in Hillcrest Community Center beginning Oct. 14, between 8:30 and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration at Bubbling Springs on the day of the Parade will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. only. No registrations will be accepted after 11 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event is scheduled to be held at Hillcrest Community Center.
