‘Gift of More' author to sign books

    Sparta - Pamela Yates, author of The Gift of More: Lessons of Faith and Love From a Life Cut Short will give a talk and sign copies of her book from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Sparta Book Shop, 41 Theater Center. In addition, she will conduct informal book signings at the Newton Bookshelf, 155 Spring St., Newton; Border’s, 301 Mt. Hope Ave.,Rockaway; and Barnes & Noble, at the Ledgewood Mall, 375 Rte. 10 E., Ledgewood. Yates is the wife of Brock Yates, famed automotive writer, sportscaster, and screenwriter of Cannonball Run. A tireless advocate for hospice reform as a result of her family’s experiences, she has contributed to American Spectator and other publications, and has been featured on the front page of USA Today. In 1993, Pamela Yates received a shocking phone call from her 25-year-old son, Sean: “Mom, they say I have cancer.” Pamela and Brock sprung into action and cared for their beloved son during his final year of life. In The Gift of More, Pamela shares her family’s deeply personal journey and thereby helps other families deal with the pain, fear, suffering, spiritual and medical problems that engulf them when they find out a member of their family is terminally ill.
