Glen Meadow honors student achievement

VERNON-Glen Meadow held its annual Advancement Ceremony on June 16, at Vernon Township High School. The following students were honored: Zachary Maher: Highest Overall Scholastic Achievement Stephanie Ng: French Nicholas Walsh: German Matthew Ceurvels: Spanish Richard Albertini: Language Arts Ashley Vogt: Mathematics Katelyn Dahlin: Science Katelyn MacDonald: Daughters of the American Revolution Michael Rovinsky: Social Studies Amy Baxter: Physical Education James Setlock: Physical Education Heather Guarini: Citizenship Presidential Education Awards The President's Education Awards program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The program was developed to help schools recognize and honor those students who have achieved high academic goals through hard work and dedication. Students are eligible for one of two honors, the President's Award for Educational Excellence or the President's Award for Educational Achievement. They were presented certificates by Anthony Macerino, superintendent of schools for Vernon Township at the annual awards ceremony. The certificates were signed by the U.S. President, the U.S. Secretary of Education, and the school's principal. A congratulatory letter from the President and lapel pin accompanied the award. The sponsoring associations firmly believe that recognizing students for their efforts and achievements is vital for motivating them to be successful, and that our schools must encourage all students to try harder, reach higher goals and expand their imaginations.
