Historical society to meet

WALPAK-Bob Demarest, president of the Millbrook Association, will speak at a meeting of of the Walpack Historical Society on Sunday, May 15. Demarest, a resident of Tannersville, Pa., will give a presentation on the many projects the Millbrook Association has accomplished in recreating the 19th century farming village of Millbrook, and future plans for the village. Demarest has volunteered as an interpreter for the National Park Service since the 1980's, and currently mans the carpentry shop in the village, which is located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The meeting is free and open to the public. Those attending are invited to bring picnic lunches and lawn chairs and dine on the Walpack M.E. Church lawn, Main Street, Walpack Center, at noon. Because the Walpack Historical Society regular meeting place, the historic Walpack M.E. Church, is closed for alterations, attendees at the picnic lunch will then carpool to the Walpack Ranger Station, a large stone building located less than a mile south of Walpack Center on the right-hand side of Route 615.
