Jefferson Township hosts second annual photo contest

    JEFFERSON-The Jefferson Township Bicentennial Photo Committee's (JBPC) second annual photo contest will be held Sunday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Dec. 12. The contest will be hosted at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building, 1033 Weldon Road in Jefferson Township. All Jefferson residents and those who reside in the adjoining communities of Hardyston Borough, Hopatcong Borough, Mount Arlington, Picatinny Arsenal, Rockaway Township, Roxbury, Sparta, and West Milford are eligible to participate. Photo Contest Committee members are ineligible for judged entries. The classes established for this contest are Black/White and Color in the categories of Human Interest, Landscape, Nature, Digital Special Effects, Architecture, Sports and Open. No nudes, please. Entries will be accepted between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 20. No entries will be accepted after 3 p.m. on November 20. The entry fee for the contest will be $20 for one to three entries maximum. Prizes include a $50 cash prize for "Best-in-Show" and $15 for first place in each category. Ribbons for all places plus two honorable mentions in each class and category will also be awarded, and there will be no more than one cash prize per entry. Judges will be from outside the eligible towns. The JTBPC reserves the right to reject any entry that it deems to be of inappropriate format or content, and accepts no responsibility for the loss of or damage to any entry while in its possession. Entries must be a minimum image size of 5x7" with a maximum finished size of 16x20" and must be framed and securely wired for hanging. In order to ensure impartiality, no names or other identifying marks will be permitted on the front of the entry. Participants are asked to tape one filled-out entry form to the back of an entry prior to drop-off. To download an entry form visit jeffersonbicentennial.org/events/photo.html. All entries must be picked up on Sunday, Dec. 12 before 4 p.m. to avoid a $5 entry/storage fee. Receipt forms must be filled out completely and be presented and signed at time of pick-up in order to claim entries.
