Kiwanis Golf Open benefits community
Sparta - The Kiwanis Club of Sparta is holding its 11th Annual Golf Open on Aug. 14. The Open will benefit many projects for the youth of our area. Over $18,000 a year in college scholarships are distributed by Sparta Kiwanis and over $50,000 is raised and returned to the community. We had the honor of sponsoring Michael Gaus of Pope John XXIII Regional High School to the American Legion Boys State through the Thomas Talmadge Post 491. Gaus was elected Governor of the 2006 Boys State, the highest achievement among 850 young men. The just plain fun begins at 11 a.m., lunch at noon, Shotgun Callaway 1 p.m. and cocktails and dinner start at 6 p.m. Please make tax-deductible checks payable to: Sparta Kiwanis and mail with the event form to Sparta Kiwanis, PO Box 173, Sparta, NJ 07871.
