Meet the author and go nuts!

NEWTON — Maureen Slamer’s debut book The Life of a Nut is a visual extravaganza and inspiring ditty about what it takes to be a nut. In it, she offers an original, one of a kind, and tender tale in which one nut will embrace her own nuttiness to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that being a nut takes a lot of guts and is all it's cracked up to be. In her follow up book, A Nutty Adventure, Slamer invited the reader on a journey where she develops in greater detail and expression the notion of self-acceptance and her unique vision of the human community. Slamer will be signing copies of her book at An Open Book, 169 Spring Street in Newton, on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Slamer is an artist and essayist. She completed her master’s degree in art therapy at Marywood University in Scranton, PA, and was first published in Working With Images: The Art of Art Therapists by Bruce Moon. Her work received the Edward Fairbanks Memorial Award at Skylands Art Exhibit in Newton. Maureen is also a recipient of Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Scholarship at Marywood University. She lives in Newton with her husband.
