Mining Museum open for the season

The Sterling Hill Mining Museum on Plant Street in Ogdensburg will open its Fossil Discovery Center on Saturday, May 14. It will then be open the second Saturday of every month through the fall. This educational activity is recommended for students in grades two through 12. Participants get to dig and collect six fossils using a general identification chart and ask questions of a paleontologist. The event repeats every half hour beginning at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for a fee of $4.50 per individual. Each session is limited to 25 people on a first come, first served basis.
