STANHOPE—Lenape Valley Regional High School senior Ron Chicken was crowned "Mr. LVR" by a panel of eight judges Wednesday, Feb. 16 in the school auditorium. Ten Lenape seniors were judged on their dancing, appearance in casual and formal wear, level of a selected talent, and money they raised in school during the campaigning period. Between campaigning and the night's admission, the competition raised more than $2,500 to send yearbook students to camp and also purchase extra yearbooks. Managed by senior Jill Carey, Chicken bested runner-up Tom Fritzky, managed by Rachel Lee, and third-place finisher Joe Dowden, managed by Shannon Mullenbruch and Carlleen Allison. Individual accolades went to Fritzky as Mr. Bling-Bling for the most money raised with more than $600 and Bobby Dowden as Mr. Congeniality and Mr. Talent. Among the awards the boys received were Ledgewood Mall gift certificates, yearbooks, and prom bids. Community thanks were extended to Gary Sainato, store manager of Trend Tuxedo, which donated tuxedos for the competition's formal wear portion; Newton Sport and Trophy, which provided trophies for the winning contestants; and Netcong Village Florist, which donated roses for the campaign managers. Commerce bank sorted the collected coins free of charge, and donated bottled water and pens as well.
