Music video filmed in Sparta

This past Sunday, Rykers Lake and adjoining Edison Road was the scene of action when the band, The Dig, filmed a music video to their song, “Cold Afternoon.”

They were thrilled to be filming in Sparta and the woods at Rykers Lake provided the deep forest feel without being miles out.

There were dancers in elaborate makeup and costumes, make-up artists and producers and directors hard at work. The remaining production crew worked with Sparta Police on traffic control. Most of the crew resides in the New York Metropolitan area.

One of the dancers, Daphne Lee is a Rahway native, it was her first time to Sparta. New York Choreographer, Jennifer Roit said it was “so great to be out in nature.”

The Dig has been around for about five years. Singer and Guitarist David Baldwin described their music as “psych pop” while other members weren’t sure their music fit into a category.

The two singers, Baldwin and Emile Mosseri have been playing together since they were 10 years old. After meeting the other two members, Erick Eiser (Guitar and Keyboard) and Mark Demiglio (drums), the band was formed.

They were nominated in 2012 for Independent Music Award for Best Album — Rock or Hard Rock. For more information on The Dig visit www.facebook.com/thedig.
