SUSSEX-The Tri-State Actors Theater will hold open auditions, noon-6 p.m., Jan. 29-30, for its 2005 season opener, "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream," in Sussex. The first day of auditions, Saturday, is for local performers and non-equity professional actors. Equity principal auditions (contract: SPT, Tier 1) are Sunday. Registration begins 11 a.m. Performers are asked to prepare a brief Shakespearean monologue and bring a picture and resume. "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream," written by William Shakespeare, has woven together three different worlds to create a romantic comedy including a colorful tapestry of words. Roles to be auditioned include some of the Athenian gentry, the fairies — Peace Blossom, Cobweb, Moth and Mustardseed and the craftsmen of Athens. Tri-State is looking for male and female actors, of all races and ethnicity who appear young, are athletic, and good with physical movement. Tri-State Actors Theater, a professional, non-profit regional theater, is funded by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.
