Photos by Chris Wyman on show in Vernon

VERNON Friday evening, Aug. 26, Sussex County photographer Chris Wyman of Vernon will be showing a collection of his photographs at the Symphony of Music and Art Studio in the McAfee section of town. A reception will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Although Wyman has been working as a professional photographer for many years, this he will be presenting for the first time several series of non-commercial photographs including his Stacked Series groups of inanimate objects that come alive because of their human qualities and his Portrait Series that includes area residents. Each group of photos will be presented on a computer screen as slide shows, so viewers can appreciate the internal connection within each series. Wyman is a three-time winner of the New Jersey Press Association’s annual digital photography competition, placing first in the portrait and sports feature categories, and third in the pictorial category. Wyman is a 1982 graduated of the Leica School of Photography. While living in Bergen County in the mid-1980s, he taught technical photography courses including “The Camera as a Tool” and “The Care and Use of 35mm Cameras.” In the past, he also taught basic photography to camera repair technicians-in-training. He is a current member of the Pentax Professional Services Program, a select group of international professional photographers. Others on show Additional artists whose work will be shown include Agatha Wyman of Vernon, who will show her oil paintings along with her large scale ceramic sculptures, Lorrie Sniderman from Warwick, N.Y., showing pastel paintings, and Tom Naples, also from Warwick, showing photography. Cindy Diskin and Dolli Grace of the musical group Calico Sky will be performing. The Symphony of Music and Art Studio is a school that offers art classes, music lessons, tutoring, language courses and other creative and developmental activities for children and adults.
