Poets Wanda Praisner and Kenneth Hart come to college

SUSSEX COUNTY-The Idiom Reading Series at Sussex County Community College will present poets Wanda Praisner and Kenneth Hart at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 in the new library. The evening will conclude with a short open reading and Praisner will have books available for purchase. Wanda Praisner's first book of poetry, A Fine and Bitter Snow, was published in 2003 by Palanquin Press, (USCA). She has taught for many years in California, New York, and New Jersey schools, where she provides poetry workshops for children from pre-K to eighth grade. Praisner has won numerous fellowships and awards for her poetry including placing second in the Allen Ginsberg Competition, winning The Devil's Millhopper Kudzu Prize, the Maryland Poetry Review Egan Award, and First Prize in Poetry at the College of New Jersey Writers' Conference. She is a recipient of a 1995-96 poetry fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and three from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation to the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. Her work has appeared in The Atlanta Review, Journal of New Jersey Poets, Kalliope, Lullwater Review, and New York Magazine. Kenneth Hart holds a BA from Rutgers University in English and Education and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. He teaches writing and literature at New York University, the Clemente Institute for the Humanities, and works part-time in the family roofing business. His poems and reviews have been published in The Bellingham Review, 7 Carmine, Etcetera, The Journal of New Jersey Poets, and upcoming poems will appear in Barrow Street.
