Pope John High graduate wins Circle of Excellence Award

    MARIETTA, Ohio-The Art Department faculty at Marietta College presented Pope John XXIII Regional High School graduate Patrick Charles Quinn with a 2005 Circle of Excellence Award in Graphic Design, which recognizes outstanding achievement and academic excellence. Quinn is a junior at Marietta, majoring in graphic design. Quinn's award was presented, Feb. 26, at the opening reception for the Student Show in the Third Floor Gallery of the Hermann Fine Arts Center at the college. The exhibition includes more than 170 works created since March 2004 by Marietta College students enrolled in studio art and/or graphic design courses. The works represent an array of disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, charcoal drawings, graphic design, acrylic and oil paintings, monoprints, block prints, photography, digital illustration, and mixed media. Many of the pieces are available for purchase. The show is open to the public from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, through March 26.
