Ronnie Spector plays at concert series
HACKETTSTOWN The public radio station at Centenary College, WNTI, will hold its final summer concert at noon on Sept. 17, 2011 at the Knowlton Township Lions Club Pavilion in Knowlton Township with music by oldies tunes DJ, the Golden Gup during a car cruise until 4 p.m. At 4 p.m., spectators can enjoy the music of the legendary Ronnie Spector and Little Isidore and the Inquisitors, All tickets cost $20. Children under 12 are free with an adult paid admission. “This is the fourth and final concert in our series and we added an interesting twist this time,” says Melanie Thiel, WNTI Development Director. “Attendees can register their cars for a car cruise during the event. What a wonderful opportunity for automobile enthusiasts and for those who enjoy good music alike. onnie Spector fans will also want to catch this show for certain!” Ronnie Spector is the embodiment of female rock and roll in the 1960s. Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2007. Ronnie Spector’s latest CD, “The Last of the Rock Stars,” was released Nov. 10, 2009. Little Isidore and The Golden Inquisitors have tongue-in-cheek persona, but they cover all range of oldies, many of which are original compositions. The Golden Gup is a Mobile Oldies DJ with a comprehensive library of doo wop and pop hits from the 1940s through the 1960s. The Knowlton Township Lions Club Pavilion is located at Route 46 in Delaware, N.J. There will be no outside coolers/food/drink allowed and food vendors are available on site. Proceeds will benefit WNTI Public Radio from Centenary College. In 1957, WNTI noncommercial radio was licensed to Centenary College and began broadcasting. Initially, WNTI was only on the air a couple of times a week for several hours. Today, WNTI’s eclectic free-form programming can be heard 24 hours a day, seven days a week. WNTI’s staff includes many Centenary students and community volunteers. With studios on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey, WNTI can be heard on 91.9 FM in northwestern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
