Sussex County - Rotary Clubs in the Sussex County area are planning their 10th annual “Walk-for-the-World” fund raiser for the Rotary Foundation on Sunday, May 21, and are inviting other charitable and community programs to join them and share the profits. The event will be held at the Loantaka Brook reservation in Morris. Non-profit groups that join the effort may keep 50 percent of the money they raise. Any legitimate non-profit organization may participate. Youth programs, sports teams, religious groups, booster clubs, scout troops and school clubs are some of the other outside groups that are welcome to take part. To participate, a group simply registers with the Rotary program, enlists pledges for their walkers (who walk for about two hours in a lovely park), and then gets a check in the mail for their own program. At the same time they are supporting the Rotary Foundation, which provides millions of dollars a year in worldwide humanitarian aid.
