April Zanne Johnson has several upcoming local exhibitions during October and November NEWTON — Sussex County Community College will be featuring the works of local artist April Zanne Johnson in the SCCC Atrium Gallery at 1 College Hill Road in Newton. According to her website, April Zanne Johnson, a native of Sussex County, "invites a psychological and emotional relationship with the viewer. While she finds beauty and transcendence in biology and human form, she strives to portray the relevant connection between the brain and the body. This is translated into an explosive configuration of gyrating, slithering or oozing energies." Zanne Johnson was born in 1970. She currently lives in Byram and has lived in New York City and Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Parson's New School for Design NYC and is currently working on her MFA at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Zanne Johnson is a mother of three children, Thyra of Lenape Valley High School, Farah who graduated from Sussex County Community College in the Spring of 2011, and a young son, Lyric. Her husband is Jay Deutsch. Zanne Johnson's artwork is on permanent display in New Jersey, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Zanne Johnson's interests include feminist issues such as child care in the work place, healthcare for women, and the abolishment of human trafficking to name a few. She is personally fascinated by health, botany, biology and psychology. Her Byram studio is quiet and secluded and surrounded by 75 acres of wooded land. She allows studio visits by appointment only and may be contacted by email
