Screening: Neither Wolf Nor Dog

Sparta Avenue Stage has partnered with the distributors of the record-breaking independent film, Neither Wolf Nor Dog, based on the award-winning novel by Kent Nerburn, for a special event screening the film from May 31-June 1, 2019. The film is directed by Steven Lewis Simpson. It features an amazing performance by elder, Dave Bald Eagle who was 95-years old during the time of filming. For a period of time after Dave's passing, NPR's All Things Considered debated whether he was "the world's most interesting man." This independent film has broken records by being in US theaters longer than any other movie released in a decade. NWND continues to expand across the U.S. and has received wonderful support from the different communities requesting and attending the film.
It is not often heard that a small, self-distributed independent film has competed with Hollywood blockbusters and even more remarkable that it has outperformed many as well. The film, having been shot with a crew of 2, has played in over 200 theatres so far from just around 15% of the North American movie market. Its massive opening week at the Landmark Lagoon Cinema in Minneapolis had more admissions during opening week than the film with the top screen average in the US. It's been an amazing David vs. Goliath story, totally reliant on the support from communities requesting, sharing, and attending the film. The audience score is higher than any Hollywood release out at the moment: 4.7/5 95% on Rottentomatoes. Sparta Ave. Stage is located at 10 Sparta Ave. in Sparta.
