SPARTA — Well known in Northeast for their electrifying sharp horn arrangements, sparring vocals, and intricate guitar driven melodies, Subcommittee created a unique and danceable sound they've been playing since 1995. It is a hybrid of punk, Latin and reggae. On Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. they will perform for free in Dykstra Park. Since their inception, Subcommittee has been a favorite in many New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania clubs, and have been the featured act at varied outdoor music festivals. They released their first LP, "Machito’s Wonder" in 1998 on Hi-Test Records distributed by Black Pumpkin Records followed by two demos recorded between 1995 and 1997. Their second LP, "What Goes Wrong," was released in 2002 and is available in record stores throughout the region, and online at cdbaby.com. Their third full length album is soon to be released. The Sparta Summer Concert Series 2011 is organized by Sparta Cultural Affairs Committee For more information visit www.spartaarts.org
