Sparta's Phillip Lid singing at SCCC

    Hackettstown — A benefit for Sussex County Community College will feature singers from five towns in Sussex County on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the college’s Performing Arts Center. Phillip Lid, a 25 year veteran of opera and popular music, has invited eight of his favorite singing partners, colleagues and rising stars to join him in presenting known selections from opera to popular songs from as far back as the 1920s. Joining him on stage will be: Barbara Davis of Vernon; William Nasiuta of Forest Lake; Cate Pasculli from Newton; Mary Pat Finucane of Sparta; Debbie Nannery of Newton; Deborah O’Brien of Sparta ;Matthew Ciuffitelli from Wantage; and Janine Lid of Sparta. The pianist will be Lucille Kincaid from East Stroudsburg, Pa., known for her long time success as the former Sparta High School choral director. The evening will include an unusual cross section of music and singing styles, opening with opera, Broadway, and ending with popular cabaret music. Call the college for more information.
