SUSSEX COUNTY-Sussex County Community College will present a concert by Reggie Wayne Morris at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 in the theater at SCCC located in Building D on the Newton campus. Admission is $3; students will be admitted free with a valid student ID. Morris hails from Baltimore and plays the blues with a passion. Having spent a great deal of his childhood on his grandparents' farm outside of Charlottesville, Va., he was reared on gospel music at the local Southern Baptist Church. The blues were also a part of family life, provided by family members who played guitar, piano, and harmonica. Over the years, Morris has developed a style that pays homage to those who bore witness and spread the blues news from generation to generation. While blues music often reflects the moods of the past, Morris' music is contemporary. The title tune from his second release, "Blues Binge," showcases his guitar work. He has been a featured performer at the Baltimore Blues Festival for several years, a favorite on the Mid-Atlantic club circuit, and has toured Italy and France. "Blues Binge" is the artist's second release on Round Robin Records. The 13-cut CD features all original songs, of which seven are penned by Morris and Gerald "Gypsy" Wade.
