West Milford — Come hear the talented youth of the township sing for an excellent cause. On Sunday, Aug. 28, the students of Deborah "Zuke" Smith will perform at Momento Restaurant to raise awareness for pulmonary hypertension. The disease, which affects the arteries in the lungs and makes the heart work harder than normal, is more than a cause for one of the performers. Haley Pilkington, a junior at West Milford High School pictured at left, suffers from the disease and is active in the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. "The PHA is important to me because it provides valuable resources for people with this disease, such as locations of PH specialists, ways of coping and living with PH, and researching medical treatments for a cure," said Haley. She has wanted to do a fundraiser for PHA and found this to be the perfect opportunity. Haley believes that using music is the best way to spread her message. "My doctors know I sing and fully support me and I want to support the PHA and raise awareness," she said. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at Momento Restaurant, 374 Morsetown Road, West Milford, on Sunday, Aug. 28. Join Haley and the other talented young singers, including Devin Hanson, Sophia Metcalf, Jack Romano, Noah Baginski, and Missy Lang, for a great evening of music, all for a great cause. There is no admission charge but donations for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association will be accepted.
