Teen author signs books

NEWTON-Stillwater resident and high-school student Rebekah Garris has achieved a very important dream early in her life, that of seeing her written work published as a book. Rebekah's book, "Unending Hope" is set in the mountains of Colorado, a few years after the Civil War. It centers around two sisters, Jolene and Elizabeth, and their adventures surviving on their own in the wilderness. Rebekah, the oldest of nine children, was home schooled through the 8th grade and is currently a junior at Kittatinny Regional High School. She has always had a flair for creative writing, even as a young child, according to her mother, Diana Garris, who thinks the publication of Rebekah's book is quite an accomplishment. Kittatinny Librarian, Janet Goodwin, arranged for a "meet the author" lunchtime event, at which students and faculty could purchase the book and have it signed by the teen author. Information on how to publish writing is available online at www.publishamerica.com.
