'Text/Words' exhibit opens July 23

NEWTON — The opening reception for the “Text/Words” exhibit at the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council Gallery in Newton is Saturday, July 23 beginning at 4 p.m. The show focuses on how text and/or words are visually and conceptually used in art. The featured artists are Logan Rene’ Broussard of Jersey City and Peter Arakawa of Edison. Broussard developed the Westside Drawing Guild that furthers conceptual and planning drawing, and paints and sculpts full time. Arakawa, a professional artist for over 25 years, also paints and sculpts. He has studied with Ka Kwong Hui, Leon Golub, Joan Semmel, and John Goodyear.
