Franklin — The Tri-State Actors Theater goes “on the town” to the Irish Cottage Inn in Franklin, this Saturday, July 16 to present a concert reading of Conor McPherson’s play, “The Weir.” at 8 p.m. in the upstairs bar room of the inn. The setting for “The Weir” is Brendan’s pub in the remote town of Leitrim in west Ireland, an area of desolation and loneliness. At first there’s just small talk among the men involving little more than the windy weather and a broken tractor. The gossip quickly turns to the subject of Finbar, who has sold a house to a woman named Valerie, recently arrived from Dublin. When Finbar arrives at the pub with Valerie, the men begin to compete for her attention, weaving tales of ghosts and the supernatural. As the evening progresses, they discover Valerie has her own tale to tell, a tale destined to change their lives forever. Story-tellers are professional actors Patricia Durante as Valerie; Jason Guy as Finbar; Jon Holtzman as Jim; Roland Johnson as Jack;and Kevin Sebastian as Brendan. Admission is by donation. Dinner and drinks are separate. For more information, visit www.tristateactorstheater.org or call 973- 875-2950.
