SPARTA-Four seriously silly Savoyards will serenade the audiences with a fully staged and costumed two-hour concert of Cameo Production's "Gilbert and Sullivan, by the Carte!" It will start at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, at the Voices of Summer Festival at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley. The four cast members, Jane Brendler Buchi, Jacqueline Kroschell, Ron Edwards and Sean Barker, have literally hundreds of Gilbert and Sullivan performances in their background. Barker and Kroschell played roles with the New York City Opera Company and with major symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. and Canada. Buchi, a member of New York's famed Blue Hill Troupe, has also performed the entire repertoire. He travels to England to play with the Blue Hill's production of The Grand Duke in August. Edwards' background includes playing the starring comedian "G.G." roles, and tenor and baritone leads! Drawing from their fully staged and costumed romp through highlights from all thirteen of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, the four will include selections from the three most performed works, The Mikado, Pirates Of Penzance, and H.M.S. Pinafore, in addition to Ruddigore, Princess Ida, Patience, Yeoman Of The Guard, and such rarities as The Grand Duke and Utopia Limited. In addition, musical director and singing pianist, Carol Middleton of Denville, will offer one of her vocal renditions in the Gilbert and Sullivan rendition. Immediately following the concert at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley, the troupe will travel down the road to Byram Twp.'s Summer Concert Series, where they will serve up an abbreviated one-hour version at 6 p.m. Concert goers can hear other productions, each with a different thematic concert, on any or all of six consecutive Sundays, from July 10 to Aug. 14. The music will range from Gilbert and Sullivan to opera to great variety entertainment to historic civil war songs to a vaudeville show. The concerts begin at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley, just west of the junction of Rte. 15 and Berkshire Valley Road, two miles off of Rte. 80. General admission is $15. There is a family ticket for only $33, which includes mom, pop, and all minor children.
