Jefferson Township The township's Recreation Department is accepting registrations for a new evening session of its high energy, low-impact “Core” cardio exercise program that will run for eight weeks with fall sessions beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Classes will continue on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. until Nov. 8 (no class will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18) at the Jefferson Township High School cafeteria, 1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge. Also being offered is a new morning class that will be held on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. in the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong. This session will start on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and end on Nov. 16. There will be no class on Wednesday, Oct. 19 or on Nov. 9. Taught by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Group Exercise certified Instructor Christine Powell, these intense classes will consist of core exercise, weight-training, all-over fitness and muscle toning. The fee for each eight-week program is $28 (checks payable to the Township of Jefferson), and a minimum of 15 people/maximum of 30 people is required to run each program. All participants are asked to bring a bottle of water, hand weights and a mat or large towel for the floor exercises. Registration forms can be found at the Recreation Department, located at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, during regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays or by calling 973-663-8404. MasterCard and Discover are accepted but a 2.45 percent bank convenience charge will be added to the registration fee.
