STILLWATER-Janice Arnold, of the Fairview Lake Y.M.C.A.'s board of managers, was recently appointed as chairperson of the annual "Y Cares" campaign. Over the next few months Janice will be spearheading this campaign, which provides financial assistance for those in need. In addition, it raises money to support the numerous programs at Fairview Lake Y.M.C.A. that help to enrich the lives of the community. As chairperson, Janice will be working closely with the "Y Cares" volunteers to solicit donations for this year's campaign. Frank Kelly, executive director of the Fairview Lake Y.M.C.A., said, "Janice's efforts on our board have been truly inspiring and successful. As vice chairperson of the board of managers and chairperson of the program committee, she is recognized as a leader and a role model. I am confident that she will exhibit the same passion and enthusiasm in spearheading this year's ‘Y Cares' Campaign." The vast majority of "Y Cares" recipients are families with children who require financial assistance to access summer Y.M.C.A. camp programs. Last year's campaign raised more than $48,000, enabling 46 children to have a quality camp experience. The goal of this year's campaign is to raise $53,000, and with the generous help of loyal supporters, the Y.M.C.A. should be able to reach their goal and continue to provide assistance to those who need it most. The Fairview Lake Y.M.C.A. is a branch of the Metropolitan Y.M.C.A. of the Oranges, that serves over 65,000 people annually. Its mission is to enrich the lives of the children, families and communities it serves through programs that build spirit, mind and body, welcoming all people, in an environment nurturing positive values.
