Education Award winners

Byram. The Board of Education has announced the recipients who were honored to be selected for the Governor’s Educator of the Year and Governor’s Educational Service Professional Awards.

The Byram Township Board of Education has officially acknowledged Dina Michaud, Byram Lakes Elementary School first grade teacher, andJames Clayton, Byram Intermediate School Mass Media Teacher as the district’s recipients of the Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) award. Lauren Taylor, Byram Intermediate RTI Coordinator and Ryan Resch, Byram Lakes Paraprofessional have been recognized as the district’s recipients of the Governor’s Educational Services Professional (GESP) Award. They were selected by a panel of parents, administrators and co-workers for this years distinguished honor.

In making their selection, the panel identified Michaud and Clayton for their excellence as educators who inspire and influence their students to learn and flourish. The panel also identified Ms. Taylor as an extraordinary leader in her profession who takes pride in her field to help our students succeed and Resch as a Paraprofessional who encourages her students to do their best and is always there to lend a helping hand. They are collaborative educators and professionals who have also developed positive relationships with their fellow staff members, students, administrators and parents.

Michaud is employed at the Byram Lakes School as a first grade teacher. Michaud earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and has been with the Byram Township School District for over 19 years.

Mr. Clayton is employed as the 7th and 8th Grade Mass Media Teacher at the Byram Intermediate School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/English and his Master’s degree at Kean University.

Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marymount University in Virginia and her Masters in Special Education at William Paterson University. She is employed at the Byram Township Schools as the district’s RTI Coordinator.

Ryan Resch is employed at the Byram Lakes School as a Paraprofessional. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Transcription from Kaplan University. She has been a devoted employee at the Byram Township School District serving as a Paraprofessional in many grade levels.
