4 students receive RoNetco scholarships

SUSSEX COUNTY. RoNetco Supermarkets, operators of ShopRite supermarkets, awards scholarships to employees and to the children and grandchildren of employees.

Four local students received scholarships from RoNetco Supermarkets, operators of ShopRite supermarkets in Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties, for the 2023-24 academic school year.

RoNetco increased its total annual scholarships from $25,000 to $30,000 in 2022.

The scholarships are awarded to employees and the children and grandchildren of employees at the company’s eight ShopRite supermarkets and corporate office.

Employing over 1,800 associates, RoNetco is dedicated to providing opportunities for employees to pursue a post-high school education by offering scholarships and encouraging staff members to take advantage of the tuition-reimbursement program and discounted tuition with participating colleges and universities.

RoNetco owns and operates ShopRite locations in Netcong, Byram, Newton, Sparta, and Franklin and will open its ninth ShopRite location, in Sussex, in the late fall.

Recipients of the RoNetco scholarships:

• Tucker Austin of Sparta and a 2022 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School. He will enter his sophomore year this fall at Fordham University in the Bronx and plans to study sports journalism. His interests include professional and collegiate sports, auto-racing, golf and movies. Tucker is the son of Julie Austin, who has worked as an administrative professional in RoNetco’s corporate office for 16 years. Tucker was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

• Julie DiMuccio of Stanhope has worked at the ShopRite of Byram as a front-end runner since November 2021. She is studying biology and will be attending DeSales University in the fall. She plans to become a physician assistant specializing in orthopedics. She was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

• John Dobroskok of Andover is a senior at Montclair State University pursuing a degree in information technology. He has made the dean’s list every semester since fall 2020 and has a 3.9 grade point average. He is part of the Presidential Scholars Program at Montclair State. John plans to work in the field of cybersecurity after he graduates. He has been working part-time as a cashier at the ShopRite of Byram since September 2018. He was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

• Victoria Volpe of Wantage is studying cosmetology at Sussex County Community College. She is an aspiring beauty professional who is passionate about creative pursuits, helping and uplifting others, new experiences, and family. Victoria is a front-end runner at the ShopRite of Sparta and has been working at the store since September 2020. She was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.
