Band teacher charged with lewdness

Albert Cerulo III, a band teacher at the Hopatcong middle and high school, has been charged with lewdness, Hopatcong police said.

He was released pending an appearance in Superior Court in Sussex County.

Police said he was employed by the Hopatcong Borough School District at the time of the incident.

An investigation was conducted jointly by the Hopatcong Police Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Support services and counseling are available through the Hopatcong Borough School District for any students or staff affected, police said.

Missing person

Police are trying to find Dan Butkus, 36, who was last seen at his Stonegate Village apartment in Stanhope on May 16.

His family and friends believe his disappearance is suspicious, police said.

Butkus is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing 170 to 200 pounds with light brown hair and brown eyes.
