Bands offer tributes to Sex Pistols, Troubadours

Live music in Sussex County kicks off Friday, July 21 as the Lafayette House, 75 Route 15, comes alive with a performance by the northern New Jersey-based band the Acoustic Wolves starting at 6 p.m.

At Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta, Johnny Woods will showcase soulful melodies with his Americana folk-rock trio featuring some of their originals from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The Alibi Beach Bar & Grill, 172 Lackawanna Drive, Stanhope, will host James Vilade at 6:30 p.m. for acoustic tunes on the lakefront.

At Dykstra Park, 4 Mohawk Ave., Sparta, singer-songwriter Diane Gentile & The Gentle Men will take the stage from 7 to 10 p.m. Together for 10 years, this band is excited to release new tunes with a new single, “Walk with Me,” featuring Alejandro Escovedo, and an album titled “The Bad and the Beautiful” to follow.

The Stanhope House, 45 Main St., invites you to a thrilling night with Bollocks, a Sex Pistols tribute band. Special guests, the punk band Porch Rockers, will join the lineup. Tickets are $10, and the doors will open at 7 p.m.

Starting at 8 p.m., local favorite Ron Ossi will play at Brick & Brew, 27 Route 23, Franklin.

Rocking at the Newton Theatre, 234 Spring St., will be the Magical Mystery Doors. This band will take you back in time to experience all of your favorites, from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to the Doors. On Saturday, July 22, start your day on a high note by supporting local vendors at the Sparta Farmers Market, 89 S Sparta Ave. While you browse the market, enjoy the sounds of the Steam Drill Meddlers duo, beginning at 10 a.m.

Make your way to the Lafayette House to hear the acoustic musings of Mike Hertz from 6 to 9 pm.

At Brick & Brew, Latin pop artist Reina Mar & Fran will play an acoustic set at 8 p.m.

“The Troubadours” will captivate the audience of the Newton Theatre on Saturday night with their tribute to the music of Carole King and James Taylor. Home Again, a King tribute band, and Steamroller, which plays Taylor’s music, will join forces to create an enchanting performance that pays homage to two legendary artists. Starting at 9 p.m. at O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill, 271 Spring St., Newton, Jay Mac will perform a mix of classic covers.

Sunday, July 23 offers another jazz showcase at Krogh’s rooftop bar for Sinatra classics with David Wallace from 1 to 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 25, visit the Stanhope House for an exciting performance of the School of Rock AllStars. These talented young musicians have achieved the highest level of recognition within the School of Rock program, showcasing their skills with remarkable expertise. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets may be purchased in advance for $12 or at the door for $15. For a group experience, four-pack bundles may be purchased in advance for $40.

To wrap the week, Jonathan Foster returns to Krogh’s on Thursday, July 27, telling musical stories from his new record, “Roadside Attraction,” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
