Celebrating Paternostro

SPARTA — Vic Paternostro's path to success began many years ago, on a worn out grass field playing a game that his Italian parents never heard of. From those early days of pure fun emerged a love affair with a game that would stay with him for over four decades. The game of football is where he would develop relationships with people for the rest of his life. The game mirrored life for him in such a way that it all became one big classroom where the student eventually emerged as the teacher. Over forty years later, he would amass a jaw dropping record of over 370 wins, countless league and sectional titles, an unheard of winning percentage, a program built on class, and the title of the winningest coach in the state of New Jersey. On Nov. 26 the community will come together at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta to celebrate Coach Paternostro and his achievements on and off the football field. Tickets are on sale at the Bagel Bistro located in Andover, Dominicks Pizzeria located in Newton, Villa Capri in Sparta and online at www.partyforcoach.com.
