    Lauren Cartier on graduating from James Madison University and making the President’s list fall and spring semester of her senior year. In the fall, Lauren will pursue her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology at Radford University Alicia Malpiedi of Sparta has graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Ashley Allocca of Lafayette and Jonathan Popo of Lake Hopatcong, students at Pope John XXIII Regional High School, were awarded the 2011 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience. Matthew Corriere of Wantage and Thomas McGee of Glenwood graduated from Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt. Danielle D’Avanzo of Sparta was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2011 semester in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. Emily Ramos of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Montclair State University. This is the fourth consecutive semester she has achieved this honor. She was also inducted into the Phi Sigma Pi National Co-Ed Honors Fraternity. Marcia Johnson of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. Allison J. Bolger of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Nicholas Gallo of Sparta and Michael Deutch of Sussex have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. David Evans of Sparta graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. Brendan Rezny of Sparta was one of eight students from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. who recently spent three weeks living in London, learning about British law and culture. The trip, which included visits to the British Parliament, Cambridge and Wimbledon; the European Union Parliament in Brussels; and Edinburgh and St. Andrews, Scotland, is part of the university’s Global Opportunities (GO) program. Participating students took field trips and collaborated with British professors and law enforcement officials, allowing them to examine British law in the context of the European Union. They compared the law with that of the United States and analyzed legal systems, law enforcement practices, sports law and university law. Gregory Mille of Sparta graduated from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. Jeehye Choe of Sparta graduated from the Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton. Kristin Schanbacher of Sparta has received a degree from Berkeley College. Justin Wilson of Sparta was one of 12 students from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., who traveled in May to New Orleans to provide ongoing aid as part of the university’s Global Opportunities (GO) program. Susquehanna’s Hurricane Relief Team has been visiting the Gulf Coast several times a year ever since Hurricane Katrina devastated the region. Among the service projects students have tackled are house gutting, de-molding and painting, tutoring, baseball field and playground construction, tree removal and brush crew work, mural painting and animal shelter support. Students meet hurricane survivors and discuss the public and private sectors’ responses to the 2005 natural disaster. They also explore the French Quarter, Garden District, lower 9 Ward and other parts of this culturally rich city. H2M architects + engineers in Parsippany has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Kristen Fisher of Sparta, who is planning to study Environmental Science at Pennsylvania State University Anthony Policastro of Sparta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. Jacquelyn Ann Staple of Sparta was named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Iowa State University. Brett Becker of Sparta has graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University. While at Clemson he was a political science teaching assistant for two years, president of his fraternity, Delta Chi, captain of his lacrosse team which made the Southeast Championship game finishing the season 14-2 and earning a final national rank of 13, made the all-conference lacrosse team, was inducted into the Order of Omega and Mortar Board which are honor societies based on leadership, as well as academic achievement, and received the Academic Award for the Greek Society of Clemson. He was awarded the highest award given to any member of the campus’ Greek community, that of Man of the Year. He will be attending Wake Forest School of Law in August.
