Help provide meals to Bennett family

Stockholm — The Vernon Youth Football and Cheer are working to help the family of Janice Bennett, who died Oct. 2. Mrs. Bennett, a longtime resident of Stockholm, was a real estate agent with Prudential Century 21 in Vernon and also a part-time teacher at Vernon High School, where she was active in the DECA organization. As community members note, she leaves behind her husband Mark Bennett and four sons, two of whom live at home. With the staggering costs of medical bills, friends and neighbors have pitched in to help. Vernon Youth Football and Cheer are working to put together a “night of meals.” They are asking donors to sign up for a night to either cook dinner, have a delivery service or send in a monetary donation toward food shopping. Their goal is to get a full month of meals and other provisions as well. Donors can contact Veronica Haltner at tapethis@aol.com or call 973-703-4183. She is coordinating a schedule and is also open to suggestions for other ways to help. Gift certificates for food or stores can be dropped off at Rolling Hills School (Attn: Bennett Family). These will be delivered to the family.
