Local psychotherapist to retire
Sparta — After thirty years years working as a social worker, twenty of those years as a psychotherapist in private practice, Maggie Davis-Jelly, LCSW, a resident of Sparta, is set to retire on April 1, 2018.
Maggie has lived in Sparta since 1991. After ten years working as a mental health counselor in Paterson, NJ and as a Child Study Team social worker at Rockaway Township School District, Maggie worked as a psychotherapist at the Center for Human Potential in Denville, NJ and the North Jersey Counseling Center for Mental and Spiritual Health located at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Sparta. For the past twenty five years, Maggie has volunteered with a host of non-profits located in Sussex County, such as Family Promise, Pass-It-Along, HOW Global and Project Help. She is an advocate for victims of domestic violence and is associated with the Nurtured Parent and the Children’s Justice Campaign. Maggie earned Bachelors in Social Work from Ramapo College of NJ and a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers, the State University. She is the author of “Always Balanced and Connected: Daily Affirmations for Body, Mind and Spirit,” published by Balboa Press/Division of Hay House.
From April 7 to April 15, 2018, Marshall Okin, owner of Art Etc. Gallery in Sparta, will be hosting a Retirement Art Exhibit to showcase Maggie’s work as a painter.
