Sparta woman wins fair's talent show

Ava Mederos, 18, from Sparta, took first place in the talent show at the New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show on Aug. 12. Mederos sang "I Who Have Nothing" as her third song and her performance put her over the top. She received $300 and a trophy for the win. She will be attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City this fall and plans to study musical theater.
