Local resident turns 100

SPARTA — On June 30 Leola Geddis turned 100 years old. She celebrated with family and friends at Knoll View Assisted Living Home in Sparta where she has lived for the past nine years. She has two sons, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. On her birthday she was recognized with proclamations from the House of Representatives, a citation from the Senate and General Assembly, a certificate from the Board of Freeholders and a plaque from Sheriff Strada. She also had a special song sung to her by Jacqueline Kroschell from Camio Telegram that was made up of lyrics about her life. Geddis, who is an ardent Yankees fan, was presented with three tickets to a July 10 game by August Kuhling of Modells Sporting Goods, on behalf of Mitchell Modell. Geddis will be sitting in his seats in the Legend Suite for the July 10 game.
