Franklin - Carol L. Luscher has been promoted to vice president, compliance, BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and training officer of SussexBank. The announcement was made by Donald L. Kovach, chairman and CEO of the bank, who noted that SussexBank is following an industry trend in which banks are allocating more resources in order to meet increasing regulatory demands. The threat of terrorism, our national security and the protection of our customer against identity theft are just a few examples of the circumstances that have influenced the creation of new laws affecting our industry,” he explained. “We’ve reached a point where compliance and BSA require a dedicated, full-time effort. With her professional background and outstanding contributions to our organization, we’re pleased to provide Carol Luscher with this new opportunity.” Terry H. Thompson, president of SussexBank, said Luscher’s promotion is a natural extension of her training responsibilities. “Many of these new regulatory guidelines affect the face-to-face interaction with our customers,” he noted. “Remaining compliant, protecting our customers’ interests and accomplishing that within the context of service excellence is a significant challenge. We believe Carol Luscher is ideally suited to manage this process.” Ms. Luscher joined the company in August 2004 as assistant vice president, director of training, a position she also held at Newton Trust Company. She served that institution in various capacities for more than 12 years. She was also a training and performance support manager at Sovereign Bank for more than two years, and for a number of years was an associate in the retail division of Crestmont Federal Savings and Loan. She holds a B.A. in Education from William Patterson College, Wayne, and is certified by a number of professional training organizations. SussexBank is a diversified financial services corporation based in Franklin. With its subsidiary, Tri-State Insurance Agency, Inc., the company serves a wide range of commercial and residential customers across Sussex County, Orange County, N.Y., and Pike and Wayne Counties in Pa.
