Alberta K. Hendershot

    Alberta K. Hendershot (nee Kopens) of Ogdensburg, N.J., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021. She was 95.

    Born to Alex and Christina Kopens in Franklin, N.J. she grew up in Franklin before moving to Ogdensburg, N.J. Alberta was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1943, and then worked as a bookkeeper for New Jersey Power and Light in Franklin, N.J., for many years. She attended Sussex County Community College receiving her AA in Arts and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Sorority in 1992.

    She was a watercolorist and continued her studies with Toni Chaplin. Alberta was a member of the Sussex County Arts Society and a member, Treasurer and Elder of the Ogdensburg Presbyterian Church and a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Northern Chapter # 38 in Hardyston Township, N.J. Alberta also worked as a volunteer at the Newton Hospital Gift Shop for 20 years until she was 92 years old. Alberta is predeceased by her husband, R. Richard Hendershot (2001), and a brother, Maurice Kopens; and is the beloved mother of Richard W. Hendershot and his wife, Joanne, of Ogdensburg, N.J.; dear aunt of Lynn Hendershot, Diane Roberts, Susan Sedlock, Thomas Kinney and Vince Pienski. Graveside services under the direction of F. John Ramsey Funeral Home in Franklin were held Dec. 9 at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Township, N.J.
