    Edward “Ted” David McGurrin, of Sparta, beloved father and husband, died on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 after a long illness.

    Born in Scranton, Penn., to Patrick and Loretta McGurrin, Ted served in the United States Navy during World War II. He moved to New York to work with General Motors, Hertz, Avis, and then his own leasing company. Ted and his wife, Janet, lived in Wantagh, Long Island, New York, before moving to Sparta in 2002.

    Ted leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Janet; his daughter, Michel Fiore and her husband, Louis, of Sparta; three sons, Edward David, Jr., and his wife, Christine, of Clifton Park, New York, Robert and his wife, Patricia, of Sparta, and Theodore and his wife, Tamami, of Sparta; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held Feb. 28 at Christ Episcopal Church, 62 Main Street in Newton.

    In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Ted’s memory to the Barn Hill Care Center Activity Fund, 249 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860.
