Fred M. Finkle

    It is with much love that we remember Fred M. Finkle Jr., who died peacefully on Jan. 2, 2014 in Delray Beach, Fla. at 86 years old. Fred resided in Delray Beach for over 25 years and previously in Lake Mohawk for 40 years. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie O’Neill Finkle, and his two brothers, Barry and William. Fred was born in Clifton, N.J. on Feb. 12, 1927 to Fred Sr. and Hilda Finkle. Fred is a graduate of Clifton High School and attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Law in Manhattan. He was a proud member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and a devoted patriot. Fred was a communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Delray Beach, Fla.

    He was a successful entrepreneur in Sussex County for over 50 years. Fred owned and operated several school bus companies in Sussex County for over 30 years. Fred was past president of Sussex County School Bus Association. In addition, Fred was the third generation in a family-owned trucking business. After his retirement, Fred continued his business passion in real estate development including several self-storage businesses.

    Fred is survived by his eight children, Barbara (Cubby) Kovalsky of Franklin, Nancy (William) Hooks of Findlay, Ohio, Marjorie (Barry) Groh of Sparta, Chip Finkle of Delray Beach, Fla., Gary (Nancy) Finkle of Charlotte, N.C., Rick (Sharon) Finkle of Sparta, Robert (Olga) Finkle of Sparta, and Thomas Finkle of Sparta. Fred is also survived by 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Fred enjoyed many years of travel and adventure with his wife and family.

    A memorial service and inurnment will be held in late spring 2014 in Sparta.
