Janet Martha Leale

Janet Martha Leale of McCormick, S.C., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021. She was 91.

Janet was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Laura Kramer. Janet was a resident of Byram Township, N.J., since 1962 before moving to McCormick in 2018.

Janet began a career in 1975 with the Andover Township Police Department as a Special Officer, and in later years became the secretary to the chief of police, and the Lakeland Emergency Squad.

In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by her late beloved husband, Harold Norman Leale, and her son, Harold N. Leale Jr.

Family and friends were the cornerstone of her life with whom she shared many special times.

She is survived by her loving children, Karen Knight, of McCormick, S.C., and John H. Leale, of Mineral, Va.; grandchildren, John Harold Leale Jr., Daniel Stuart Leale and Charles Norman Lessig; in addition to five great-grandchildren and her life partner, Theodore F. Beck Sr. of Netcong, N.J.

Visitation was held Oct. 31 at Smith McCracken Funeral Home, Newton. Funeral services were held Nov. 1 at the funeral home with interment following at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn.
