Louis George Champy of Highland Lakes, N.J., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for hospice in Fredon Township, N.J. He was 78.

Born to Louis and Anna Champy in Paterson, N.J., he has been a longtime resident of Highland Lakes.

Louis served as Sergeant E5 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a manager of business development for SM Electric in Rahway, N.J., for many years, retiring in 2009. Louis enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening, skiing, golf and was an avid fisherman. He will be remembered most for his good humor and quick wit. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed.

Louis is the beloved husband of Patricia Champy; devoted father of Louis F. and his wife, Anna, Christopher and Jennifer; stepfather of Sandy; loving grandfather of Megan, Kyle, and Ryan; cherished great-grandfather of Reyce, Olive, and Autumn; and dear brother of Lois Cleary.

Private cremation services under the direction of Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, Vernon, N.J. A Celebration of Louis’s Life will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey (alznj.com) or to CureTBM (curetbm.org) in honor of his daughter afflicted with this disease, would be greatly appreciated.
