Louis T. Nazzaro, 94, of Sparta, New Jersey passed away on September 4, 2017. Lou was born in Sparta, New Jersey over top of the Central Hotel at 16 Main Street; that was owned by his parents and would be owned by he and his wife until 2005. He was a proud member of the United States Army serving in the European Theatre during WWll serving in Southern France, the Rhineland and Italy. Upon return from the war Lou and his wife Louise ran “The Central” a restaurant that was the hub in Sparta for generations. Lou coached Red Devil Midget Football in Sparta for many years, he was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, member of the American Horse Shows Association, BPOE Sparta Lodge #2356, member of the Sparta VFW Post 7248 where he was a charter member and former secretary, former director at the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Sussex County, member of the Sussex County Licensed Beverage Association, member Sparta Township Recreation Commission, and Sparta Kiwanis. Lou was instrumental in street naming and house numbering for mail delivery in Sparta, He was a longtime supporter of men’s and women’s bowling in Sparta. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Louise Albanese Nazzaro, his son David “DJ” Nazzaro and sister Rose Accetta. Louis is survived by his devoted children: L. Thomas Nazzaro and his wife Rebecca, Samuel Nazzaro and his partner Judith Fiore; and Timothy Nazzaro. Also survived by his sister Jenny Switzer; loving grandfather of Sergio, Nicole, Samuel Jr, Corina, and Jackelyn and great grandfather of Cassidy. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, 11am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Thomas of Aquin Cemetery, Ogdensburg, NJ where Army Military Honors will be presented.
